VAT Charges on Payments

Authority Hacker is owned by a UK based company and is registered for VAT.

As a seller of digital products, we are required by law to charge VAT to customers based in the European Union. Our shopping cart will detect your country, based on your IP address. If this is incorrect, you can manually change this by selecting your correct country of residence from the dropdown menu.

Each EU country has its own VAT rate, so the VAT you are charged will depend on the rate your country charges VAT at the time you checkout. The VAT is added to the cost of the product and displayed under

If you are a resident of a non-EU country, you will not be charged VAT.

VAT info for UK companies

If you are a VAT registered UK company, you can enter your VAT ID (please use the full number with the prefix GB) at checkout. You will still be charged VAT at this time. We have to report this and pay it to HMRC in our next VAT return.

You will be given a VAT invoice after checkout. This will allow your company to reclaim this VAT from HMRC during the next VAT return.

So basically you have to pay the VAT now, but can claim it back during your next VAT return.

VAT info for EU (excluding UK) companies

If you are an EU company with an EU VAT ID, please enter your VAT ID in the optional field. If your VAT ID is valid, VAT will not be charged during checkout.

The official basis for this is called a reverse charge mechanism and applies to all EU cross border transactions between 2 VAT registered companies in different countries.
